- The speed of the conveyor or broad belt that rugs will be placed on for washing.
- Forward, stop, and backward movement of the conveyor.
- Lowering and raising the disc brushes(for thin and thick rugs)
- The speed of the disc brushes the bridge, moving to the right and left.
- Stopping or keeping the disc brushes bridge stationery (for washing small rugs and runners)
- The flow of detergent and water.
How does it work?
The Combi machines are rug washing machines, rug centrifuges, or rug dryers combined to make them suitable for use in a small space. The Combi machines have a soaking tub, a water tank, and a tank for detergent with a pumping system and rug trolley. The machine can be connected to the water supply of the building with a valve for opening and closing the water flow to the washing machine instead of using the water tank.
After dusting, the rugs will be placed in the soaking tub close to the machine. One end of the rug will be lifted and placed on the conveyor while the conveyor is stopped and the disc brushes are raised. After placing the rug on the conveyor control button, it is turned to the right to start moving forward. The gripping surface of the conveyor helps the rug stay down and be moved forward with the conveyor. Once the rug gets under the disc brushes, it will be lowered on the rug just by touching a control button. Water and detergent will be automatically pumped into the machine for washing the rug. The machine will roll the rug on the other end of the conveyor.
Once a rug is washed ( It takes a minute to wash an 8 x 10 rug), it is lowered to the rug trolley and transferred and inserted into the centrifuge. The rug centrifuge door has a hose connector for rinsing the rug inside the centrifuge while running at 1200 rpm. The water from the centrifuge drain will be the best indicator of proper rinsing time. Once the rising is done, the water is turned off, and the centrifuge needs to run for three minutes to extract all the water from the rug.
The rug coming out from the centrifuge is almost dry but moist ( If a paper napkin or tissue paper is rubbed on the rug, it won’t get wet, as you can see in the video). The rug is then hung for complete drying.

Footprint and the space Combi needs:
Easy to operate:
- Bridge Speed: The bridge here refers to the platform holding the rotating brushes facing down to the rug. The number of disc brushes a machine will have depends on the model of the machine for instance a 12-foot model will have 4 disc brushes and the 19-foot model will have 5 disc brushes. The bridge is moving right to left across the width of the rugs. The bridge will travel across the entire width of the machine at a speed you like, but it is recommended to run it not too fast. If you have a 14-foot model machine and want to wash a 6 x 9 rug, you can bring together the limit switch activators (simple clips) close to each other, now the bridge will be traveling right and left between the two clips only scrubbing the 6-foot wide rug.
- Squeegee Speed: Self-explanatory, just as above.
- Band Speed: The term “band” refers to the grippy conveyor belt responsible for carrying the rug forward during the washing process. You can control the speed at which the rug moves forward under these brushes, allowing for precise adjustment according to your needs.
- Band Back: By adjusting the knob, you can change the direction of the conveyor, allowing the machine to reverse and bring the rug back. This feature is useful when you need the rug to return, perhaps for additional brushing on specific areas. Once you’ve completed this action, simply turn the knob again to resume the forward movement of the conveyor.
- Bridge Up and Down: By pressing the up button, you can elevate the brushes, allowing rugs to pass underneath them. During the washing process, once the rug is beneath the brushes, holding the down button will gradually lower the brushes onto the rug. This feature enables you to adjust the brushing intensity according to your needs. For extremely delicate rugs such as silk or tapestries, you can opt for a superficial and gentle brushing. Conversely, for robust rugs like shag rugs, you have the flexibility to lower the brushes further for a more vigorous deep-down brushing. Such precise control over brushing intensity is not achievable with a handheld rug-brushing machine.
